The form
Chelsea began our European journey with a trip across the Channel to face Paris Saint-Germain at their Stade Jean Bouin home in the French capital last week. It was a tough assignment on matchday one however, the Blues passed the test with flying colours.
Millie Bright volleyed home from Erin Cuthbert’s cross on 27 minutes and thanks to a valiant all-round display, the Blues stood firm to secure a hugely valuable three points and clean sheet to take back to London.
Our opponents, Vllaznia, were dealt a difficult task in their opening match of the group stages where they hosted Real Madrid. Esther Gonzalez and Olga Carmona were on target for the Spaniards who ran out 2-0 winners.
The Albanian champions secured their ninth successive league and cup double last term. Attacker Megi Doci will be one to watch with 66 league goals last season, while she played every minute of her side's Champions League group stage qualifying campaign earlier this season.
Chelsea Women vs Vllaznia Women recent head-to-head record
The Blues and Vllaznia have never played each other before, so this is unchartered territory for both sides who will have been busy sizing each other up in preparation for this one.
It’s the reigning champions of England and Albania pitting their wits against each other on matchday two, with Vllaznia proving an unknown quantity.
Chelsea are looking to record back-to-back victories in Europe and a win would see us extend the winning streak to six matches in all competitions.
Vllaznia will be aiming to cause an upset on their travels and have made history in becoming the first Albanian side to reach the last 16 of UEFA competition, since men’s side KF Tirana 33 years ago.
Next up for the Blues
Once European duties are done, the Blues return to Women’s Super League action with Aston Villa the visitors to Kingsmeadow on Sunday 30 October.
Kick-off is at 2pm (UK time) and for supporters who cannot make this one, the match will be available to watch on our platforms.
