Our first Barclays Women’s Super League fixture of the season at Kingsmeadow sees us take on West Ham United in a London derby this Saturday evening.

Having taken four points from six in our opening two league matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, we return to Kingsmeadow for the first time since pre-season hoping to continue our unbeaten start to the campaign.

In our previous outing, we travelled north to face Manchester City where Guro Reiten’s stoppage time equaliser cancelled out Chloe Kelly’s early opener in a frantic affair, which saw the hosts finish the game with nine players.

West Ham arrive at Kingsmeadow under new management in Rehanne Skinner. The Hammers fell to Manchester City on the opening day but bounced back with an impressive victory and clean sheet away to Brighton & Hove Albion, and began their FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup campaign with a win over Charlton Athletic in midweek.

When and where?

We face West Ham in the WSL at Kingsmeadow this Saturday 14 October, with kick-off scheduled for 5.30pm (UK time).

How to follow

As always, you can follow the game via Chelsea Women’s social media channels. There will be live commentary on our Twitter page and regular updates on Facebook and Instagram. Simply search ‘ChelseaFCW’ on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

For UK-based supporters who cannot attend the match, this will be available to watch live on Sky Sports Football.

The form

We come into the game sitting fifth in the league table with one win and one draw from our opening two fixtures. Mia Fishel, Lauren James and Guro Reiten have been on the scoresheet as we have netted three goals while conceding two in the process.

Only her teammate Niamh Charles (513m) has carried the ball further in the Women’s Super League this season than James (424m), with the forward also having the most shots following a ball carry in the division (4).

West Ham journey across the capital occupying seventh position with one win and one defeat from their opening two league games. They have scored two and conceded as many, while their victory over Brighton last time out came away from home.

Chelsea Women vs West Ham United Women recent head-to-head record

Our third league game of last season was against West Ham at Kingsmeadow. Dagny Brynjarsdottir headed the Hammers in front but goals from Fran Kirby, Sam Kerr and Millie Bright saw us run out 3-1 winners.

In the reverse league fixture in May, we moved one step closer to the league title with a 4-0 victory at Victoria Road. Charles opened the scoring on her 100th appearance for the club with further goals from Pernille Harder, Sophie Ingle and Erin Cuthbert.

Next up for the Blues

Following our match against West Ham, the Blues are back at Kingsmeadow with Brighton & Hove Albion our opposition in the WSL on Sunday 22 October.

Kick-off is at 2.00pm and for UK-based supporters in who are unable to attend, this match will be available to watch live on FA Player.
