As another FA Cup campaign gets underway, we bring you Chelsea’s top ten goalscorers in the famous old competition, with the list containing several Blues legends.
We have won the FA Cup on eight different occasions, with our runs to the world's oldest cup competition containing some iconic moments like these.
We have had hundreds of goalscorers in the FA Cup since we first entered the competition in 1905, but these ten men stand above the rest when it comes to finding the net…
Frank Lampard – 26 goals in 58 appearances
Frank Lampard scored in 11 different FA Cup campaigns for us. His most famous contribution came in May 2009, when a brilliant left-footed strike from distance secured a 2-1 win against Everton (pictured top), and with it the trophy. Super Frank also assisted goals for Didier Drogba in the victorious finals of 2007 and 2012.
Bobby Tambling – 25 in 36
Just like in the all-time goalscorer charts, the great Bobby Tambling is second only to Lampard when it comes to FA Cup goals for Chelsea. His most profitable campaign was in 1966/67 when he scored six times, including a consolation against Tottenham in our first Wembley final.
Roy Bentley – 21 in 42
Among Roy Bentley’s 21 FA Cup goals for us was one in our epic fourth round tie against Burnley in 1956, which, in the days before extra-time and penalties, had to be replayed four times!
Peter Osgood – 19 in 34
Peter Osgood remains the most recent player to have scored in every round of the FA Cup, when he did so en route to our maiden triumph in 1970. He netted a hat-trick against QPR at Loftus Road in the sixth round, and saved his most vital interventional for the final replay, when he elegantly drew us level with Leeds with a diving header.
Didier Drogba – 12 in 29
Quite simply, our FA Cup king. Didier Drogba scored goals in a record four different finals, including winners against Manchester United in 2007, Portsmouth in 2010, and Liverpool in 2012. Of his eight other Cup goals for us, four were in semi-finals! Truly the big man for the big occasion.
John Terry – 11 in 58
The FA Cup will always hold a special place in JT’s heart, not just because he won the competition with us on five separate occasions, but it was in a sixth-round tie against Gillingham he netted his first Chelsea goal as a fresh-faced 19-year-old.
Willian – 11 in 27
Our brilliant Brazilian took a liking to the FA Cup, memorably scoring twice against Spurs in the first half of the 2017 semi-final before winning it the following year. The last of his 11 goals in the Cup came against Liverpool in our penultimate game before lockdown in 2020.
Gianfranco Zola – 11 in 31
Gianfranco Zola wasted little time in announcing his arrival in England when he joined Chelsea in November 1996, and it was the same story in the FA Cup. The Italian magician scored four goals in seven games en route to our first Cup triumph since 1970, none more special than the dazzling turn and finish against Wimbledon at Highbury.
Eidur Gudjohnsen – 10 in 25
Three FA Cup goals early in his Chelsea career helped accelerate Eidur Gudjohnsen’s first team involvement in 2000/01, and in the next campaign he bagged a brace in a memorable 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
Peter Houseman – 10 in 25
Peter Houseman scored six FA Cup goals in our memorable triumph in 1970. There was a fourth round brace in a replay at Turf Moor as we battled past Burnley, two in quick succession in the semi-final against Watford, and, most pivotally, cancelling out Jack Charlton’s opener for Leeds on a dire surface in the Wembley final.
