Head coach Sonia Bompastor has made seven changes in her final Women's Super League starting XI of 2024, with the Blues set to take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium this afternoon.
Regardless of this afternoon's result, the Blues are guaranteed to go into the winter break at the top of the table, but a win against the Foxes would secure a 10th consecutive league win this season and we will be hoping to extend our advantage which currently stands at five points.
Following our midweek win against FC Twente in the UEFA Champions League, Hannah Hampton, Ashley Lawrence, Lucy Bronze, Wieke Kaptein, Sjoeke Nusken, Guro Reiten, and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd are all introduced to the XI.
Goalkeeper Hampton starts in goal with Bronze, captain Millie Bright, Nathalie Bjorn and Lawrence lining up in front of her in defence.
Fresh from making her 50th appearance for the Blues, Nusken starts in midfield alongside Kaptein. Rytting Kaneryd, Maika Hamano and Reiten are set to feature in our attack, while Ramirez will lead the line in the East Midlands this afternoon.
Academy product Lola Brown has been named in her first WSL matchday squad after two appearances in the Champions League. The 17-year-old takes her place on the substitutes bench alongside Zecira Musovic, Katie Cox, Niamh Charles, Eve Perisset, Alejandra Bernabe, Oriane Jean-Francois, Catarina Macario and Aggie Beever-Jones.
Midfielder Erin Cuthbert misses out on today's match against Leicester due to suspension.
