Lauren James returns as Emma Hayes makes three changes to her Chelsea Women team to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League today.
This match comes hot on the heels of the 2-1 win over Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge which sealed our progress to the quarter-finals of the Women’s Champions League.
Two of the changes by Emma Hayes for this trip to Brighton come in defence, where Eve Perisset comes in for Ashley Lawrence at right-back and January signing Nathalie Bjorn is back in for Kadeisha Buchanan, having been ineligible for the midweek game against Real.
Niamh Charles continues on the left and will captain the side today, while Jess Carter partners Bjorn in the middle, with Hannah Hampton getting the nod between the posts again.
Erin Cuthbert and Melanie Leupolz resume their midfield partnership, and Guro Reiten and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd also continue on the flanks. Fran Kirby retains her place too but there is one change in attack, as Mia Fishel is replaced by Lauren James, who netted a hat-trick in our last WSL fixture, the 3-1 win over Manchester United.
New signing Mayra Ramirez could make her Chelsea debut, the Colombian forward having been named among the substitutes a day after completing her move from Levante.
Chelsea: Hampton, Perisset, Bjorn, Carter, Charles (c), Cuthbert, Leupolz, Rytting Kaneryd, James, Reiten, Kirby
Substitutes: Musovic, Buchanan, Mjelde, Lawrence, Ingle, Nusken, Beever-Jones, Fishel, Ramirez
