Moises Caicedo and Ecuador got a first win at the 2024 Copa America with future Chelsea player Kendry Paez on target in a 3-1 win over Jamaica.

La Tri gave a major boost to their chances of reaching the knockout stages by securing their first win of Group B in Las Vegas.

For the second game in succession, Caicedo started and played the full 90 minutes.

An own goal from former Chelsea midfielder Kasey Palmer gave Ecuador the lead in the Allegiant Stadium, before they were awarded a penalty - following a VAR review - just before half-time.

17-year-old Paez, who will join the Blues from Independiente del Valle after his 18th birthday next May, converted the spot-kick for his second senior international goal.

In the process, the midfielder became the youngest goalscorer at Copa America in 25 years and marked the occasion by mirroring Cole Palmer's famous 'cold' celebration!

Jamaica did hit back after the break through a familiar face in West Ham forward Michail Antonio, their first ever goal at the Copa America.

But Ecuador sealed the win in injury time after a breakaway from a defensive corner - Alan Minda slotting home to end the contest.

The win keeps alive Caicedo's chances of playing in the knockout stages, with Ecuador now back up to second place in the group.

They next face Mexico on Sunday in Arizona with both sides going into the game on three points - meaning the winner will qualify for the quarter-finals, although a draw will be good enough for Ecuador due to goal difference.
