Enzo Fernandez was back in the Argentina team as the World Cup holders booked a spot in the Copa America knockout stages with a narrow win over Chile.
Argentina became the first side at the tournament to qualify for the quarter-finals after a late goal from Lautaro Martinez secured a 1-0 win in New Jersey.
Blues star Fernandez returned to the midfield engine room, after he was an unused substitute in the win over Canada last time out, partnering Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister.
And his side duly dominated the game, producing 22 shots over the 90 minutes, only to be frustrated by Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
That was until the closing stages when Martinez reacted quickly to convert a loose ball following a Lionel Messi corner.
Fernandez completed 64 minutes on his return to action until he was replaced by Tottenham's Giovani Lo Celso.
The result means Argentina stay top of Group A and are guaranteed a top-two finish.
A point in their final group game against Peru on Saturday [Sunday 1am UK time] will see them confirm top spot.
Elsewhere, Wednesday evening sees Moises Caicedo and Kendry Paez's Ecuador return to action, when they face Jamaica in Las Vegas - kick-off is 11pm UK time.
