Jamie Cumming’s goalkeeping heroics for MK Dons earned him praise from his manager as well as our Loan Performance of the Week, while Lucas Bergstrom's own loan at Peterborough United has ended.
MK Dons had to fight for a 0-0 draw at home against Lincoln City as they continue to recover their form in League One under new manager Mark Jackson, meaning they are now just two points from safety, but they had their on-loan goalkeeper Jamie Cumming to thank for a couple of stunning saves.
The first came right at the end of the opening half, when he initially kept out a Jack Diamond shot from the edge of the box and then reacted brilliantly to smother the rebound bravely as Lincoln looked set to score a tap in.
Even better was to come after the break, though, as he was at full stretch to turn away another goal-bound effort from Diamond to secure the point and keep the Dons’ unbeaten home record intact under their new manager, who was full of praise for the player's performance.
‘When Jamie was called upon he makes a good save, he’s a quality goalkeeper and that’s why he’s at Chelsea,’ said Jackson.
‘We’re delighted to have a keeper of his calibre because you know when he gets called upon he can produce and keep the ball out of the back of the net.’
Meanwhile, fellow goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom, who was also in League One with Peterborough United, has ended his loan spell and returned to Chelsea after keeping nine clean sheets in 28 appearances for the Posh in all competitions.
Elsewhere, there were also clean sheets for Levi Colwill, as he helped Brighton stun Liverpool with a 3-0 victory in the Premier League, and Ethan Ampadu made it five Serie A games without defeat for a resurgent Spezia, as they won 1-0 away at Torino.
