Fofana joined Chelsea in January 2023 from Norwegian club Molde and made four first-team appearances during his first six months with the club.

He spent the first half of last season on loan in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin before joining Burnley on loan in January.

The Ivory Coast international impressed at Turf Moor, scoring four goals in 15 appearances for the Clarets.
