The fixture list across our Men’s, Women’s and Academy sides has conspired to serve up a week of local derby action for Chelsea, presenting the perfect opportunity to demonstrate that London is Blue. Here we preview the games ahead.

The Pride of London’s quest for a week of capital city prominence has already begun well with victories in both our FA Cup semi-finals at the weekend, Thomas Tuchel’s side overcoming Crystal Palace at Wembley while Emma Hayes’s team booked their place at the same stadium for the final by vanquishing Arsenal. Before then though, there are five league game derbies across six days, keeping the Pride of London busy against neighbouring clubs.

Tuesday

It kicks off today with our Under-18s hosting Tottenham Hotspur at Cobham. Both sides are neither challenging for the title nor lingering near the bottom of the table so it is bragging rights that are at stake.

Our young Blues have had a difficult couple of weeks which do not reflect what has been a positive season from Ed Brand’s side. A defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest in the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup and back-to-back losses handed to them by Leicester City and Southampton have all but ruled out the U18 Premier League title.Having said that, our youth team do have a final against Fulham in the U18 Premier League Cup to look forward to.In the reverse league fixture against Tottenham earlier in the season we were on the right side of a 7-2 scoreline. Ronnie Stutter, Lewis Hall (with two), Jimi Tauriainen, Malik Mothersille, Derrick Abu and Edwin Andersson were all on the scoresheet that day. This will give the boys confidence as they aim to beat a Spurs side who have won their last three games.

Wednesday

Our men’s first team have an impressive record in derbies recently, winning 10 of our 12 games against sides from the capital so far this season, with just one loss at the Bridge to one of our neighbours. Both our upcoming visitors in the Premier League also harbour ambitions of Champions League qualification. Our first opponents Arsenal are currently sixth in the table, eight points behind us in third, with one more game played, and within striking distance of fourth-placed Tottenham, meaning the result on Wednesday evening could have a big impact on Chelsea and Arsenal’s chances of reaching the Champions League. The game can be watched on Sky Sports in the UK.

Saturday

Our Under-18s feature again as they take on title aspirants West Ham United away from home. With our title hopes dashed by tough defeats, our young Blues will look to dent the Hammers’ own aspirations of being champions, with any London derby between these two clubs always containing added spice. The east Londoners have only lost four games all season so they will be a tough test for our young Blues. In the reverse fixture at Cobham we lost 2-1 despite a Charlie Webster goal which halved the deficit. Nonetheless we have shown that we can compete and both U18 sides have similar records against London opposition as we have taken 10 points from seven games while the Hammers have amassed 13 points from eight games.

Sunday

London derby week concludes with a double-header.Kicking off first is the match at Stamford Bridge where our men’s first team host West Ham United.David Moyes’s Irons side are one of the outsiders for a Champions League spot, sitting a further two points behind Arsenal, having played two games more, so a victory for the Blues would finish any chances of the Hammers catching us. Nothing can be taken for granted, though, against the only London team in the Premier League we are yet to beat this season.

At the end of these two games there will only be six Chelsea fixtures remaining in the current Premier League campaign, meaning back-to-back wins over fellow European contenders could go a long way towards securing a top-four finish, not to mention completing our capital bragging rights by beating all five fellow top-flight London sides in 2021/22. It’s another Sky Sports live game.Starting half-an-hour later, Sunday’s clash with Spurs for Chelsea Women will be the first match-up with the north London side for Emma Hayes’s players this season. The home fixture with Rehanne Skinner’s team was postponed twice due to effects of Covid-19. Now Chelsea Women will face Tottenham twice in a matter of days as the season edges closer to the end.Our last home outing against them was in January 2021 at Kingsmeadow. A brace from Melanie Leupolz, an own goal and a Sam Kerr strike secured a 4-0 victory on home turf against Tottenham.

We have faced Spurs just three times in the WSL, winning all three games. Chelsea of course are going for the title and with a one-point lead at the top over Arsenal, beating Tottenham is another important hurdle to overcome.
