Axel Disasi has urged his team-mates to keep pushing and keep improving after securing our third consecutive win in the Premier League.
The French defender was part of the side which beat Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to continue our improving form, making it three league victories in a row in SW6, and four from our last five matches overall in the competition.
Following the disappointment of our 1-0 loss away in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, Axel Disasi was pleased we were able to bounce straight back by earning the three points.
‘I think it was an important win after the loss we had in the League Cup,’ said Disasi. ‘We just wanted to win and it feels great to have finished with the clean sheet so we have to keep this going.
‘At the end Fulham pushed but we stuck together so it’s good like this.’
It was certainly a pleasing result and briefly moved us up to eighth in the Premier League table, prior to Manchester United’s draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
However, Disasi won’t let his satisfaction with the progress made so far lead to consistency, as he is well aware there is a lot more hard work needed if we are to achieve our goals this season.
‘We have to go step by step. It was a big win for us but we have to keep going, doing what we’re doing, and stick together and not think about where that puts us in the table.
‘Everything is good but we have to improve our game, to work again to gain more places in the table.
‘We can see that game by game, we improve, but we have to keep going like this. Just because maybe for five games we did good, except the game in the cup, it’s not that we can say everything is good now.
‘We have to keep going in this way tomorrow to improve and I think if everything sticks together we will be great.’
The defender also discussed how he has found the challenge of adapting to life at Chelsea and in the Premier League during his first half-a-season here, following his summer move from Monaco.
‘Since I’ve been here I’ve felt good,’ he added. ‘It’s a new team and all my team-mates help me every day to be more comfortable. I’m happy to be here.
‘It’s true that we are not in the position that we want, but if we keep the same mentality that we showed on Saturday then I think at the end of the championship it can be good.
‘I was ready to play here because it was something that I really wanted, so before I came here I trained a lot to be ready.
‘I think that every opponent, every team, they are strong. It’s the best league in the world here, every team is competitive, so every game is a fight.’
