Emma Hayes has been nominated for the Women’s Super League Manager of the Season award.
Our head coach has won this award in all of the last three campaigns and five times overall. Hayes’ side are on the hunt for a fourth successive league title and seventh overall, with the Blues winning 17 of our 20 league outings so far, losing just twice all season.
After opening day defeat away to Liverpool, Chelsea Women then went on to win nine successive WSL matches and proceeded to avoid defeat in the following six months of action. The Blues have won every single home WSL match this term, with just Arsenal to follow this coming Sunday in our final home fixture of the 2022/23 season.
If we were to win our final two matches, against Arsenal and Reading, then we would achieve the WSL’s record points tally (58 points) and the WSL trophy once again.
The Blues lead the way for goals scored thus far (61), scoring six goals on three separate occasions and three or more goals in 13 of 20 matches. Defensively we have been sound too, conceding just 15 goals, keeping nine clean sheets.
The three other manager nominees are: Jonas Eidevall (Arsenal), Marc Skinner (Manchester United) and Carla Ward (Aston Villa).
