Enzo Maresca has confirmed Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen will start tomorrow evening’s Conference League clash against Panathinaikos.

The goalkeeper started in our Conference League qualifiers against Servette and featured in our opening league phase fixture, which saw the Blues record a 4-2 victory over Belgian club Gent at Stamford Bridge.

Jorgensen was not named in the matchday squad for the weekend's Premier League clash against Liverpool but Maresca has confirmed the 22-year-old is available for selection once more.

‘Yes, he is available and is going to play,' the Blues head coach responded when asked about the Danish Under-21 international's fitness at his pre-match press conference.

Also absent from the squad at Anfield was Mykhailo Mudryk, a decision Maresca said was a technical one rather than due to any fitness concerns.

The 23-year-old hasn't started for the Blues since our victory over Gent, yet the Blues head coach says that is simply because of the form of the players ahead of the winger.

‘What I can say is we try to work with Misha every day and hopefully he can get better and better day by day with us,' said Maresca.

‘It is more or less the same situation as Joao [Felix] as he is doing well but there are other players who are doing well too.

'The important thing in this moment is for him – and for the rest of the players – is that when they get the chance, they take it.’

The Blues have taken a 22-man squad to the Greek capital which includes four Academy graduates in the shape of goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom, midfielder Sam Rak-Sakyi, winger Tyrique George, and striker Shim Mhueka.

For Rak-Sakyi and Mhueka, it is the first time either have travelled with the senior squad and Maresca is pleased to provide the duo with a taste of life in the first team.

‘They have been with us already for different sessions,' said Maresca. 'Sam has a good profile. He can play holding midfielder or through the lines. Shimmy, we use him as a striker and as a winger.

‘I think they have good profiles, young ones, and it will be a good experience for them to stay with us.

‘We also have Tyrique that is with us and is already doing very well with us. It is good to have them with us because we can hopefully give them some minutes, some chances, and they can grow and they can have different experiences.’
