Enzo Maresca says one of the best feelings as a head coach is when his players can work out tactical dilemmas on their own - something he is seeing with increasing regularity from the Chelsea squad.

Maresca has already showcased his tactical talents during his first four months in charge of the Blues, regularly altering his formation and approach to games to good effect.

It is clear the players are already taking on board his tactical instructions but the 44-year-old explained how he has also taken pride in seeing his players recognise issues and adapt themselves.

‘Absolutely [the players can see the tactical changes themselves],' Maresca replied. 'I can see not only on the pitch but also when we have team meetings with video clips, you can see that sometimes the players start to recognise for themselves solutions.

‘For me as head coach, it is one of the best moments because you can see they are learning and they are very grateful for that.’

Maresca's evolution of Chelsea's style of play should only improve over time as the players continue to learn from the Italian and his staff.

Earlier this week an interviewer put to Maresca that she had noticed improvements in the Blues' play after half-time and asked what he would say to his squad during the break to produce such results.

Maresca responded: ‘We try to adjust things at half-time because when you are with the same players or the same team for two or three years, then you can even adjust things after ten minutes of the first half but when it is a new process, it is very difficult so you need the ten to 15 minutes of half time to adjust the things you are seeing things which are not working very well, so we try to do that at half-time.’
