Sunday’s visit of Nottingham Forest will represent a return to the club that shaped Callum Hudson-Odoi, with the former Chelsea man a key part of the Reds side.

Having come through the ranks at Cobham, the wideman – who has been capped at senior level by England – helped the Blues lift the Champions League, the Super Cup and the Club World Cup before embarking on a new chapter of his career with Forest at the City Ground.

Having established himself as a key player in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, Hudson-Odoi is primed for his first return to Stamford Bridge this weekend and is a player that Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has pinpointed as one of Forest’s key attacking threats.

Speaking ahead of the game, Maresca had nothing but admiration for the job Nuno is doing on Trentside and accepts that the Reds will pose a threat – just as they did in this fixture last season, when Anthony Elanga’s strike saw them take the points back to the East Midlands.

‘We need to be aware and careful because today in football every game, no matter the competition, can be a difficult one,’ Maresca said ahead of Forest.

‘Nottingham Forest have a very good manager in Nuno and a very good squad. They are doing well, especially away from home – and beating Liverpool is never easy, especially away.

'They are doing well, it will be a difficult game and we will try to prepare our best.'

‘For sure, he (Hudson-Odoi) is a very big player for them. They have him and many more good players and we need to be aware of all of them.

‘Not only about Callum but for sure he is one of the good players that they have and we will do our best to not concede chances against them, even though we will concede chances because that’s normal.’
