Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca believes Barrow are 'probably in this moment the worst game for us' and has warned his players they can't drop their level if they are to progress in the League Cup.
Barrow may be three divisions below Chelsea, but Stephen Clemence's side are flying high at the top of the League Two table and have already knocked out Championship opposition Derby County in the League Cup.
Combined with the added motivation for any lower-division visitor to a Premier League ground to cause a headline-grabbing upset, and the different tactical challenges posed by facing such sides, Enzo knows there will be little room for error if we wish to progress.
When a journalist asked if there was a danger of Chelsea underestimating Barrow, Maresca insisted: ‘No no. It is dangerous because football is full of these kinds of games that you think is an easy game and then it's a tricky game. Probably in this moment, it's the worst game for us. It's much better to have a different kind of game and this is the reason why we need to take it seriously and we cannot allow ourselves to drop a little bit.’
The Italian was also asked about our chances in this season’s League Cup, after the Blues made it to the final at Wembley last time around.
Maresca explained the Premier League is his number one priority but stressed every other competition has equal importance beyond that and he wants to see a big performance from his players against Barrow.
He said: ‘It’s important but not because we think we’re going to win this competition. It’s a different competition but it’s important because it’s an official game so we’re going to try in the way we always try to prepare for the game in the best way to try to win.
‘But in the first game already to be thinking that we can win [the whole competition] because we were close last year… for sure we’re going to try to win all the games but the main focus needs to be just that it’s an official game and we need to do our best to win the game.
‘For sure we would like to win the trophy. But we need to go game by game in every competition and then see where we are close and fight for that. At this moment I don’t see any competition [other than the Premier League] as better than any other one, that’s not for us.
‘We need to take every game in the same way and then we see at the end if we are close to something and then go for it.’
