The 10 players of Chelsea FC Women came from a goal down to beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 as the Blues remain top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with three games to go.

A goal from Guro Reiten in the first half and second-half strikes from Sam Kerr and Jessie Fleming sealed the victory for the Blues as Emma Hayes’ side search for back-to-back WSL titles.

Erin Cuthbert played the full 90 minutes as the Blues battled the majority of the game with 10 players following Ann-Katrin Berger’s red card in the first half.

Speaking at full-time following being named as Player of the Match, our No.22 described the match as: ‘Incredible, one of the best of my career. Performances like that really do show true champions, we know that we’ve got three games to go but we’ve survived another one.’

When asked what was behind the Blues’ superb second-half display, Cuthbert added: ‘Just everyone in the team being on the same page, everyone knowing what it takes to win and what we need to do to win.

‘We had 10 players but you didn’t even notice it. Yes, they had a bit more of the ball, but that was always going to happen.

‘I feel like we looked pretty threatening, I feel like the players that came off the bench did really well. Everyone was fighting for each other and everyone accepted that the task isn’t always pretty football, isn’t the football that we want to play but we did what we needed to do to get the job done.

‘I don’t know if you’ll see a video of me falling to my knees at full-time because it was just overwhelming relief and emotion from the game.’

Fleming scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to give the Blues a two-goal lead and wrap up three huge points in the race for the title.

‘It was just a crazy, crazy game and then Jessie comes on and puts one in the top corner at 3-1 and then I felt like all my worries went away at that point!

‘Credit has got to go to the squad, everyone that came on to the game really played their part. I felt sorry for Beth [England] being taken off, it’s never easy but Beth always does things for the team and Ann herself has bailed us out so many times this season and every season ever since I’ve been at the club, so that win was for her as well.’

The 23-year-old was full of praise for the Chelsea faithful who travelled to north London in their numbers to cheer on the Blues.

‘Every time we go away to these away grounds, we feel like it’s a home game, they’re louder than the home support.

‘Chelsea fans are the best in the league by a country mile, we really do appreciate them. They got us through some tough moments today, if we ever needed them it was certainly today!'
