It was only natural that our Scottish midfielder Erin Cuthbert spoke to the media to preview tonight's UEFA Champions League match against Celtic in Glasgow.

Returning to her homeland, Cuthbert will hope to feature when the Blues look to continue our impressive start to our European campaign. We have won both our games thus far: at home to Real Madrid and against FC Twente in the Netherlands.

At the halfway point of this season's group stage, Sonia Bompastor's side currently sit atop Group B. Our opponents, meanwhile, sit fourth and are yet to score or pick up a point in their maiden Champions League campaign.

Representing Chelsea on the European stage has not been unfamiliar to Cuthbert over her near-eight years at the club, but to do so in her home country is an opportunity she is relishing.

'For me, especially being Scottish and playing against a Scottish team in the Champions League is amazing,' Cuthbert said in the pre-match press conference. 'I'm sure Caroline [Weir] said the exact same when she played against Celtic [for Real Madrid]. It's a great moment and really excited to play at Celtic Park.

'These games should be in the biggest stadiums. It's great there's so much hype and buzz around it in Scotland.'

It is no secret that Cuthbert grew up supporting Rangers, the fierce rivals of our Champions League opponent this evening. And she was asked by journalists whether she expects a hostile reception as a result.

'As a football player, if you get a bit of a hostile reception I think it's the best thing ever,' Cuthbert said. 'I certainly enjoy it. I thrive upon it.

'We've played at the Emirates many times, so we're used to playing in big games where there's an atmosphere and the opposition wants to make it as difficult as possible. I think I'll enjoy it if that is the case but it’s just about putting my best foot forward.

'It [to score against Celtic] would mean a lot, but mostly it would mean the world to me as a Chelsea player rather than being a Rangers fan. I'm here to win the game for Chelsea, to get out of the group stage and qualify in first place.'

The games have come thick and fast for Cuthbert and her team-mates with this European match against Celtic arriving days after our Women's Super League win on the road against Liverpool - and three days before this Saturday's top-two clash with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

But the busy schedule does not faze Cuthbert, with our midfielder explaining how this is normality when competing to win trophies at the highest level of the game.

'I just want to play football and want to play the games,' Cuthbert said. 'I just want to get to it. I don't want to do the talking. I just want to let my football do the talking on the pitch.

'I love playing three games a week. Being at this club for as long as I have, when we compete on all fronts, that's just something you have to accept as a football player. You've got to get your recovery right, your sleep, and your rest - everything is so important. But, I relish playing and playing in the big games.'
