Erin Cuthbert was delighted to help the Blues progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup as she hailed her side's resilience to come from a losing position to beat Everton 4-1.

On a rare occasion for Sonia Bompastor's side, the Blues had to come from 1-0 down to defeat the Toffees 4-1 after Sara Holmgaard scored the opening goal directly from a corner following 17 minutes played at Kingsmeadow.

But, we responded impressively and it was Catarina Macario who levelled the game from the penalty spot. A stunning effort from Mayra Ramirez saw us go into half-time 2-1 up, before substitutes Maika Hamano and Sandy Baltimore netted late in the second half.

'It was good overall,' Cuthbert reflected after the match. 'We stayed patient. It was a once-in-a-lifetime goal for her for Everton's opener. It was brilliant from her, and there was not much we could do about it on our part.

'It's just about how you respond to it. We were patient and didn't rush anything just because we were a goal down and not been in that position a lot this season.

'We stuck to what we know, followed the game plan and created the chances soon after. Overall, it was a good performance and a good result for us.'

A long ball forward from Cuthbert set Ramirez on her way to our second goal, with the Colombian forward then netting a lobbed effort over the top of Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan from an impressive angle.

'If you put Mayra on a foot race, I always know who is going to win,' Cuthbert said. 'As long as the pass is half decent, she can make something out of nothing. I'm not surprised because we see that in training every day.'

The win over Everton rounded off a good week's work for Bompastor's side who have now booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after reaching the the final of the League Cup in midweek thanks to a home win over West Ham United.

'It's been a very good week for the club,' the midfielder said. 'It's a good week in terms of the process, but we know we've won absolutely nothing.

'We're not getting too excited or too far ahead of ourselves. We're happy to be where we are and we're exactly where we should be right now.'

It will be a case of deja vu when the Blues are next in action as we face Everton again on Sunday, but this time in the Women's Super League. To play the Toffees back-to-back, Cuthbert says, is a different kind of challenge.

'They are probably going to change some things and we will have to adjust as well,' she added. 'Psychologically, we have the advantage over them after winning 4-1 and coming back so strong. We go again on Sunday.'
