Mykhailo Mudryk’s Euro 2024 campaign is over after Ukraine were knocked out of the competition after they were held to a goalless draw with Romelu Lukaku’s Belgium, with the latter progressing as Group E runners up.
Mudryk missed the clash in Stuttgart through injury and could only watch on from the stands as his nation were eliminated in a game that drew few chances of note.
Lukaku and Belgium, meanwhile, march onto the Round of 16 where they will meet France. The Chelsea striker, who spent last season on loan with Roma, played the majority of the fixture as the leading striker for the Red Devils before making way for Louis Openda in stoppage time.
All sides in Group E were level pegging heading into the final round of matches and that’s the way it ended up, with each team finishing on four points following Romania’s 1-1 draw with Slovakia in the other game.
That ensured Ukraine would head home early due to their worse goal difference, with Slovakia pipping them to third place while Romania progress to the knockout stage as group winners and Belgium in second.
