The Chelsea squad were busy at Cobham on Friday preparing for Sunday's big London derby away at Tottenham Hotspur.
Our third Premier League match in the space of eight days sees us head across the capital to take on Spurs, having already registered an impressive 3-0 win over Aston Villa and a 5-1 victory at Southampton over the last week.
Today, the players were preparing in the gym and out on the training pitch, under the watchful eye of Enzo Maresca, as we look to make it four wins on the bounce in all competitions.
Among those hard at work at Cobham was Enzo Fernandez, and our head coach discussed the midfielder's development after his impressive performances recently, having contributed two goals and three assists across our last four Premier League matches.
‘Enzo is improving a lot, especially in terms of understanding the game and position,' said the Italian. 'Now he is in the right position, arriving in the box, always there. This is what we need from the attacking players. For sure he can do things better, not only Enzo but the whole squad, but he is in the right way.’
Our head coach also discussed training at Cobham, offering an insight into how he works with his players day-to-day.
‘I spend many hours understanding how I can help the players improve and to convince them,' Maresca continued. 'Today, we finished the session and the last half-hour was just an extra session for some of the players to try to improve them.
‘We watch games, review games, look at how they can improve. I have four or five assistant coaches that spend time looking at the small details about position, control with the right foot, control with the left, play with the right, play with the left. These kinds of things.’
