The Chelsea squad returned to training today as preparations got underway for this week’s UEFA Conference League fixture.

Following a day to recover and refresh, the Blues were back at Cobham in good spirits after recording our third consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon, when Marc Cucurella’s fantastic second-half strike gave us a 1-0 Premier League win over Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

That followed off the back of previous victories against Southampton and Copenhagen, and our win on Saturday moved us back to fourth in the table, with a two-point margin over Manchester City and Newcastle United below us.

‘We needed that win and it was important we got the points in the end to help us move towards our objectives,’ said Cucurella after his decisive goal against Leicester.

‘Now we must recover well because we have another big game coming up against Copenhagen in the Conference League.’

As our left-back mentions, although there is another big Premier League fixture coming up at the weekend – when we will travel away to Arsenal – before then attention is firmly focused on Copenhagen once again.

We meet the Danish side in the second leg of our Conference League last-16 tie on Thursday evening, going into it with a 2-1 lead from last week’s first match in the Danish capital.

The preparations for Copenhagen ramped up today, with Enzo Maresca and his players out working on the training pitch at Cobham, with the first of two sessions to reset and build up to our next European night at the Bridge.
