With one derby victory secured, Chelsea were back at work on Friday preparing to carry that momentum into the weekend.

Chelsea claimed a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in a brilliant derby atmosphere at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening, in a match full of the drama we come to expect from clashes between the two London rivals.

Enzo Fernandez headed in the only goal from Cole Palmer's pinpoint cross early in the second half, after Nicolas Jackson had hit the post in the first minute. Both sides then had strikes ruled out by VAR, for Moises Caicedo and Pape Matar Sarr, before we held strong through 12 minutes of added time.

There is no time to dwell on that victory, though, with another derby fast approaching on Sunday afternoon. This time we will be away from home, making the short trip across west London to face Brentford in the Premier League, with kick-off at 2pm.

With that in mind, Enzo Maresca and his squad got straight back to work at Cobham on Friday to recover from Thursday's exertions and get our preparations under way ahead of taking on the Bees, as we enter the business end of the season with eight league games remaining.

‘From Friday we are going to prepare for the next game against Brentford,' said Maresca. 'From now on all the games are difficult for us, and for all the rest. So we are going to try to prepare for the next game in the best way and just go game after game.’

‘Every time you win, preparation for the next game is better. Hopefully, from the Tottenham game we can build momentum, knowing that every game will be difficult until the end.

‘We need to recover energy and go again. For Sunday it will be how we manage the tiredness. Brentford for sure will be a very tough game. From now on, every game is going to be tough.’
