The Blues' attention turned to the upcoming start of our FA Cup campaign on Monday, as Enzo Maresca and his squad got down to work at Cobham.
Chelsea were back in training following Saturday's Premier League draw away at Crystal Palace, with the FA Cup next on the agenda and a home third-round tie with Morecambe at Stamford Bridge this coming Saturday to look forward to.
The players got a sweat on in the gym before heading out to the training pitch in the chilly January weather.
Among those hard at work at Cobham on Monday were Reece James and Romeo Lavia, who continue their recovery to full fitness following their respective injuries. James was among the substitutes for our last two matches, while Maresca has said he hopes to have Lavia available to play some part against Morecambe.
Our forwards were also sharpening their cutting edge in front of goal in some shooting drills, with Maresca no doubt pleased to see them finding the net frequently after calling for us to be more clinical following Saturday's draw.
'Probably we did enough to win the game,' said our head coach. 'Between the first half and the second half I think we created enough chances to win the game, but going forward you need to be clinical, otherwise the game is always open.
'For me it’s just about seeing how we can improve things and for me the performance was very good, on the ball and off the ball. But this moment of the season is going to happen for any team in any season, that you have some moment when you are not able to win games.
'Every game is different, sometimes it is for one reason, other times a different reason. On Saturday, if I have to decide the reason why we didn’t win the game, I think it is just about trying to be clinical when you have the chance to kill the game.'
Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu were among those peppering the goal at Cobham as preparations got under way for our next match.
Tickets for Chelsea versus Morecambe are still available for Saturday's game and if you can't attend, you can still follow all of the action live with audio commentary and minute-by-minute text updates in our Chelsea v Morecambe match centre. You can also watch the game back in full in the days that follow on our website and app.
