Chelsea's players arrived back in London in the early hours of Friday morning and after some brief rest, they were back at Cobham preparing for Sunday's game with Newcastle United. Here we look at some of the standout snaps taken at training.

Chelsea moved top of the Conference League table on Thursday night with a convincing 4-1 win over Panathinaikos in Greece.

Two goals from Joao Felix and others from Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku gave the Blues a resounding victory their performance deserved.

Enzo Maresca is expected to make wholesale changes once again for the return to Premier League action on Sunday, having made 11 alterations to his side for the trip to Greece.

A number of players were left at home, with Cole Palmer, Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia among those not registered for the league phase of the Conference League as the Blues look to manage their workload.

Moises Caicedo, Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto, Nicolas Jackson and Reece James also didn't travel to Greece as their workload was managed as well.

Fans will hope to see all five return to the matchday squad on Sunday, when Chelsea play ninth-place Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

Jackson, Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk were the goalscorers the last time we faced the Magpies at Stamford Bridge, when the Blues won 3-2 back in March.

Palmer's performances continue to thrill Chelsea fans on a weekly basis and he already has six goals and five assists from eight Premier League matches so far this campaign.

Maresca has warned his players of the threat Newcastle could cause at the weekend but the Blues head into this game in great spirits.

Whilst Chelsea lost 2-1 to Liverpool at Anfield, Maresca's men enjoyed more possession and created more chances than the Premier League leaders and had previously not lost domestically since the opening day of the season against fellow high-flyers Manchester City.
