Work continued at Cobham on Tuesday for those who have not been on international duty as Chelsea’s return to Premier League action closes in.

We travel to leaders Liverpool on Sunday afternoon before games against Newcastle United, Manchester United and Arsenal prior to the next international break. It will be a good test for Enzo Maresca and his group after a very promising start to the campaign.

Today the head coach oversaw a session which began with a brief warm-up inside, in the gym, before the players headed to the grass to get to work with the ball.

After the usual rondos, it was time for some passing and shooting exercises, as well as work focused on building out from the back - an area where Chelsea have impressed so far this season.

With Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen away with their national teams, the goalkeeping unit was bolstered with the addition of some young Academy keepers, and they, along with Marcus Bettinelli and coaches Hilario and Michele De Bernardin, enjoyed some roundnet, or spikeball, to test their movement and reflexes.

Reece James, who returned to team training yesterday for the first time since pre-season, was involved once more as he continues his return to full fitness.

The next time the players convene, there will be several returning faces among the group with the international action concluding for most later on Tuesday.
