Preparations for the weekend's Premier League meeting with Manchester City were in full swing on Thursday as the Blues put in a shift at Cobham under the watchful eye of Enzo Maresca and his staff.
There is a big game coming up next for Chelsea, as we travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Man City in the Premier League, with just two points separating the two sides in the table.
The Blues go into it having got back to winning ways in the Premier League earlier in the week, by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening thanks to goals from Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke.
Tosin's opening goal was his third in as many games for the Blues, but he underlined the team's focus remains firmly on what is ahead, namely a trip to the club where his professional career began.
‘It was definitely very important to get back to winning ways and come back to Stamford Bridge and get three points on the board, which we’re very pleased with,' said the defender. 'It was amazing to go out there in front of our fans and get the win.
‘But we’re taking each game as it comes and the next game is Manchester City, so our full focus is on that now, with recovery and then starting to approach that game.’
That was a sentiment echoed by another of our goalscorers against Wolves, Cucurella, who felt the win was a step forward for the Blues and something he hopes can continue in our second Premier League fixture of the week.
‘Football is a team game,' added the Spaniard. 'We need to have a good relationship outside the pitch so that inside the pitch we can fight together and we can help our team-mates. If we can play like Monday with that desire, we have the talent to win a lot of games.
‘We have a young squad but we have a lot of talent. I think maybe we need to manage the games better because in most of the games we have scored first but then we concede, but this is part of the process. We are really happy and we know we need to take it game by game and we are focused on the next 90 minutes.’
Only time will tell if we can take that performance on the road with us to add a first away league victory of 2025 to the one achieved at the Bridge on Monday.
Saturday's contest, which kicks off at 5.30pm GMT, will be shown live on Sky Sports in the UK and will be available via local Premier League TV rights holders in other countries.
