Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount, Reece James and Ben Chilwell have all been named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the final international break before the World Cup.
The Three Lions play their final two Nations League fixtures of the campaign, first away to Italy next Friday before hosting Germany at Wembley the following Monday.
Southgate’s side sit bottom of Group A3, having failed to win any of their opening four games.
Sterling has 77 caps to his name, the most recent of which was his half century under Southgate. The Chelsea forward has 19 goals for his country, 17 coming under the former Middlesbrough boss.
Mount has 31 England caps and four goals. James has played 13 times for his country, while Chilwell, who has 17 caps, has not played for England since November 2021, when England beat San Marino 10-0.
There is the potential for the quartet to face Chelsea’s Jorginho when they play Italy at the San Siro in Milan, a stadium which will play host to the Blues in the Champions League on Tuesday 11 October.
Germany have called up Kai Havertz.
We will publish a full international preview article, with details of every game at senior and youth level, once all squads have been confirmed.
