Over a seven-year spell, Eden Hazard went from being a one of Europe's most exciting talents to a Chelsea legend. And on Sunday, he will be back at the Bridge!
By the time the Belgian left for Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, Hazard had already given Chelsea supporters enough memories to last a lifetime and is widely considered one of our greatest ever players.
It wasn’t just the goals or even moments that decided games. Often it would be a flick, a memorising dribble or a moment of genius that only Hazard could provide.
His unrivalled individual creativity could often turn a game single-handedly. A unique talent that will go down as one of the genuine greats.
This Sunday (June 9), Hazard will be gracing the Stamford Bridge pitch once again in front of a full house as he takes his place in the Soccer Aid for UNICEF World XI squad for their clash with England.
So to commemorate what promises to be a special return, here are five of his best moments at the Bridge. As you may have guessed, narrowing them down was not an easy task...
Chelsea 3-0 Newcastle - February 2014
Hazard's first Stamford Bridge treble came midway through his second season in English football.
Involved in a thrilling four-way title race with Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal, the Blues welcomed Newcastle to the Bridge, riding high after a 1-0 win at City earlier in the week.
Hazard was outstanding in that win at the Etihad, tormenting Pablo Zabaleta, and was in a similarly unplayable mood for this one.
Two exceptional goals in just seven minutes around the half hour mark tipped the contest and a second-half penalty wrapped things up perfectly.
Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham - May 2016
A Premier League classic still remembered for so many different reasons. Yet it also saw Eden produce one of his finest moments on home turf.
With Spurs chasing Leicester City and needing to win to keep alive their Premier League title hopes, the visitors got themselves 2-0 up at the break. Enter Hazard, who replaced Pedro at the interval. His impact in the second half was immediate, with a 91.3 per cent pass accuracy in the Spurs half as he created chances at will.
His efforts looked to be in vein with the Blues still 2-1 down with seven minutes to play. Then came a moment of magic in front of the Shed End.
After a trademark mazy run, Hazard played a one-two with Diego Costa before curling a sensational effort into the top corner of the Spurs' goal. The title race was over and our No.10 was yet again the toast of the Bridge.
Chelsea 5-0 Everton - November 2016
On 5 November of 2016, Chelsea would claim top spot in the Premier League - a position we would not relinquish for the rest of the 2016/17 season. It came after what could well be considered Hazard's finest masterclass.
The Belgian destroyed the Everton defence with one of the best individual performances Stamford Bridge has seen in recent times.
Hazard quickly opened the scoring after cutting inside and firing a low, angled shot into the far corner before starting the move that led to Marcus Alonso making it two.
After Costa made it 3-0, Hazard produced the best moment of a perfect night, scoring a sensational solo goal after receiving the ball wide on the right channel, following Pedro's backheel, with the Spaniard later adding the fifth.
When withdrawn with ten minutes to go, he was deservedly given a standing ovation from all four corners of the stadium - with even some of the Everton supporters remaining in the away end respectfully applauding. This was a true genius at the peak of his powers.
Chelsea 3-1 Arsenal - February 2017
Perhaps the defining goal of Hazard's Chelsea spell came in a vital win over Arsenal back in 2017 that would prove crucial in winning our sixth league championship.
Our London rivals arrived at the Bridge not entirely out of the title hunt themselves. But they were unable to prevent the brilliant Belgian running the show.
Leading at the break through a Marcus Alonso goal, Hazard effectively ended the contest only seven minutes into the second half with perhaps the finest goal of his career. Picking up the ball inside his own half after Diego Costa's header, he left a trail of red shirts in his wake while charging towards the Arsenal end.
Showing incredible balance and close control whilst managing to ride tackles, he managed to break into the penalty area before dispatching a shot past former teammate Petr Cech.
It remains one of the defining moments of his seven years here and helped to ensure the title was coming back to SW6.
Chelsea 2-0 West Ham - April 2019
In one of his final home appearances for the club, Hazard received one of his loudest ovations to date from the Bridge following an outstanding performance.
He also scored a goal that, just like his wonderstrike against Arsenal, became a staple of his Chelsea highlight reel. It also won the Premier League's Goal of the Month for April.
So often able to quickly find his rhythm, in just the 24th minute Hazard showed remarkable close control to get past three West Ham players, bursting into the box and lashing the ball into the corner. A majestic goal.
At the end of another virtuoso performance, the Belgian added a second following a cute touch and finish to confirm the three points were ours. A few months later Hazard called time on his era at Chelsea by joining Real, but his legacy was already sealed.
