Past and present Chelsea stars Willian and Mason Mount could feature in today’s south-west London derby at Craven Cottage, and here we compare each attacker’s season so far statistically to see the relative effect they are having on their team.

Willian was a Blue between 2013 and 2020, and following short spells with Arsenal and Corinthians in his native Brazil, he joined Fulham in the summer.

Mount, meanwhile, continues to impact games as one of our attacking players, with his capability of playing on the flanks making him comparable to winger Willian.

Goal involvement

Mount has three goals to his name in the Premier League, in contrast to Willian’s one. Mount currently nets every 399 minutes, with the Brazilian taking over twice as long at 820 minutes.

Willian is slightly more accurate with his shooting, hitting the target with 53.8 per cent of his attempts. Mount’s current ratio is 47.1 per cent.

Creative capacity

When it comes to chance creation, both players have recorded two league assists this term. Mount has made more key passes, 19 to 17, although with fewer minutes on the pitch Willian has produced them more frequently.

It’s a similar story with successful dribbles, Mount (14) marginally ahead of Willian (11).

Defensive duties

Mount has more defensive responsibility than Willian, who has mostly operated on the left of Fulham’s three attackers behind Aleksandar Mitrovic, and the figures reflect that.

Mount has won 15 tackles to Willian’s four and made more clearances and blocks than the 34-year-old, who has however intercepted the ball on more occasions.

Mount’s heavy involvement in games is reflected in the number of fouls he has been involved in. He’s won 20 and conceded 18, in contrast to Willian’s nine and three in each department.
