The 20-year-old central midfielder has signed until the summer of 2027, with an option of another year. She joins from Barcelona in her native Spain.

A talented youngster with excellent technical ability, Bartel's career began in the Espanyol youth team before moving to Barcelona in 2019 where she enjoyed domestic league and cup success.

During her time at Barcelona, Bartel mainly featured for their B team and scored two goals in their final league game of the 2023/24 campaign, which helped them to secure the title in the Spanish second division.

Bartel joins Chelsea having already won silverware for club and country. She played an integral role in Spain's U20 World Cup win in 2022, and was named in the team of the tournament after featuring in every match. She was also pivotal in her country's U19 European Championship victory last summer, which also saw her play in every game across the competition.
