The first trophy of the Sonia Bompastor era at Chelsea was lifted this afternoon as the Blues were crowned 2025 Women's League Cup champions.

Pride Park was the venue for our showdown with Manchester City and we opened up an early lead when Mayra Ramirez converted from close range – at the second attempt – after being put through on goal by Lauren James.

Our defence then came to the fore as City applied pressure for the remainder of the opening 45 minutes. Tackles were won, clearances were made, blocks and saves were committedly produced. It ensured we held an advantage at the half-time interval.

City did manage to level the contest when Aoba Fujino fired beyond Hannah Hampton midway through the second period, but as has regularly been the case in recent years, Chelsea's players stepped up and we forced an own goal from Yui Hasegawa with 13 minutes to play.

That ultimately settled a hard-fought contest – and the League Cup will head back to SW6 this evening for the first time in four years.

Bompastor and her players celebrated their success on the pitch long after the full-time whistle, and we have picked out more than 40 images of the Blues celebrating another cup triumph.
