A stifling heatwave across much of the country could not deter the Chelsea players from stepping up their preparations for the weekend's London derby against Tottenham at Cobham today (Friday).

Both the Blues and Spurs recorded opening victories in the Premier League, Thomas Tuchel's side with a 1-0 win at Goodison Park and the north Londoners as 4-1 victors against Southampton.

All eyes will be on Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon for our SW6 curtain-raiser but the hard work behind the scenes continued at our Surrey training base. With training underway slightly earlier in the morning due to the extreme weather conditions, there were smiles, slamdunks and plenty of sweat on show!

The basketball hoops and bins were out early on as the players enjoyed some lighter activities to ease into the session before finishing with the more traditional-sized footballs and some intense small-sided games.

Marcos Alonso was absent as he seeks to complete a move away from the club, while Mateo Kovacic has also been ruled out of the weekend's game with a troublesome knee injury. The rest of the squad were out in force in the sun ahead of Sunday's big clash at the Bridge.
