It's time to find out more about Alejandra Bernabe! We asked our Spanish defender some Chelsea and USA themed quickfire questions.

With Bernabe returning from her loan spell at Real Sociedad in her native Spain and linking up with her Chelsea teammates for the first time, we thought our pre-season tour of the USA was the perfect time to find out more about the 22-year-old!

The Spaniard joined the Blues from Atletico Madrid last summer and returned to her home country for the 2023/24 season at Sociedad where she made 31 appearances and scored once.

After Chelsea fans got to see Bernabe for the first time wearing blue in our pre-season friendly win over NJ/NY Gotham in New Jersey - now, they can get to know more about the person behind the player...

What three words would you use to describe Chelsea FC?

Winning mentality, brave and big.

If you could play with any Chelsea player, past or present, who would it be?

Erin Cuthbert. I love the way she plays and also off the pitch - she's a really nice person and so friendly. She has helped me a lot.

Who is your favourite American sportsperson?

Serena Williams.

Do you have a pre-match routine or superstition?

I always have to fold my shirt. I've always done it since I was a child, but I don't know why!

What has been your favourite part of the USA tour so far?

The first match was really nice.

I also liked Wednesday a lot because it is my first time in New York. Times Square was really crazy and the Little Words Project bracelet making I really liked.

Who is the best player you have ever played with, and why?

Andreia Jacinto at Real Sociedad. She's a Portuguese player. I love the way that she plays. She has a lot of quality and was a good friend to me off the pitch.

How would your teammates describe you? Wieke Kaptein jumps in to answer this one as she sits in on the interview...

Friendly, a really kind person... maybe, sometimes, dramatic!

What are you most excited for at Chelsea this season?

I want to win trophies, but the most important thing is to be here and to play games.

What U.S. landmark would you most like to visit?

Las Vegas! A lot of people talk about Las Vegas, so I'm curious to see it.

In New York, I'd say Times Square - we managed to go there on Wednesday - and Central Park.

Use one word to describe playing for Chelsea for the first time against Gotham…

Pleasure.
