Sam Kerr is the latest to take part in our question-and-answer feature with Chelsea Women players and the Australian international gives us an insight into her life off the pitch…
Among her answers, Sam tells us what she likes to do in her spare time, her biggest achievement and what series she is watching…
Who was your favourite footballer growing up and why?
The original Ronaldo from Brazil. I liked his flair and the way he played the game, he played with no care and it looked like he was having fun out there.
Who do you sit with on the coach for away matches?
At the moment it’s just me and Erin Cuthbert. She has good banter, good chat and I love sitting with her.
In what three ways would your Chelsea team-mates describe you?
I think they would say I’m funny, a class clown and a good team player.
Do you have any hobbies?
I enjoy riding my bicycle, I love trying new places to eat, I love going out for dinner, that’s my favourite thing. I also love searching for good coffee!
Have you got a favourite coffee?
I’m a latte girl. Australia has the best coffee, it tastes so good and I miss it.
What is your favourite food?
Sushi is my favourite food and Japanese fusion is my favourite cuisine if I’m going out to a restaurant.
Do you like any traditional English food?
I like cottage pie and a roast dinner.
What motivates you every day to do what you do?
I think it’s just who I am. The day I don’t get up and feel motivated to come to training is the day I retire. Every day I want to be better and win – I love winning.
What is your biggest achievement?
Probably winning the Asian Cup in 2010 because we were the first Australian team, male or female, to win the championship.
Best thing about London?
All the restaurants, all the cafés and just that there is so much to do all the time.
Where was your last holiday?
I went to Bali with all my girlfriends, it’s such a beautiful place.
Where is your favourite destination to visit in the world?
I went to Croatia with my family and that was amazing, but I most recently went to Cannes, that was so my vibe. I also love Bali, that’s like the Australian place to go and whenever I’m in Bali I’m making great memories with friends and family.
Do you have any pets?
I have a dog at home in Australia, her name is Billie and she is the best dog in the world. I have a cat here and she’s called Helen. I wouldn’t have survived here without Helen, she’s the best. I adopted her and she came with that name by the way!
Are you watching any series at the moment?
I’m watching Homeland, it’s so good!
If you were a superhero, what power would you have?
That’s easy, I’d be invisible for sure.
Who is your favourite singer?
At the moment it’s Drake because he’s got so many good songs out. I’d probably say Drake and Justin Bieber because he always brings out bangers and I also love Flume, he’s an Aussie DJ.
What is your favourite movie?
Law Abiding Citizen. It’s the best movie ever because you don’t know what’s going on but you slowly start to work it out and I love watching things like that.
Two things fans don't know about you?
I have a fear of flying, I’m literally terrible at flying, it’s by far my biggest fear. And another thing is that I have two missing teeth. My canines are right next to my front two teeth because my incisors never grew!
- It is now an international break, with a number of Blues away with their national teams. Our next match takes place on Sunday 27 September away to Everton in the quarter-final of the 2019/20 FA Cup.
