Olivier Giroud’s stunning bicycle kick against Atletico Madrid has been selected as one of the top strikes in this season’s Champions League and you can now vote for it as the Goal of the Tournament.
The French striker netted six goals for the Blues during our run to the final with four coming in our 4-0 victory at Sevilla in the group stage. However, it was his acrobatic effort which secured a precious 1-0 away win over the Spanish side in the Round of 16 which caught the attention of UEFA’s technical observers, who have shortlisted it as one of the 10 finalists.
While Chelsea conceded only four goals in 13 games during this season’s tournament, half of them have also been shortlisted for the award – Mehdi Taremi’s brilliant effort for Porto in the quarter-finals and Karim Benzema’s well-taken equaliser in our 1-1 draw at Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
Voting for the Champions League Goal of the Tournament is now open until 5pm CET time on Friday, 4 June. You can view the nominated goals and vote for Oli’s wonder-strike here.
Don’t forget to also show your support for Mason Mount, who has been nominated for two awards – the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Season and Hublot Premier League Young Player of the Season.
