The Ecuadorian's strike from close to the halfway line ensured he became the 13th different player to win our Goal of the Season award.

Since its inception back in the 2006/07 campaign, we've seen 18 Chelsea goals claim the honour with the winning strike decided by a public vote in recent years.

The majority have occurred at Stamford Bridge, with 11 of the title strikes taking place at home, and the other seven on away turf. Eden Hazard leads the way for most award wins with three, Michael Essien, Ramires and Oscar also claiming the title on more than one occasion.

With our latest winner now confirmed we've delved back through the previous winners and picked out six sensational strikes that are well worth a second watch - although narrowing it down was not an easy task.

2007 - Michael Essien vs Arsenal

Arguably one of the most iconic Chelsea goals in modern times - our first-ever club Goal of the Season winner is perhaps the best of them all.

Back in December 2006, at a packed Stamford Bridge, the defending champions were struggling at home to Arsenal. When Mathieu Flamini shot past Henrique Hilario with 12 minutes to go, the visitors looked likely to claim all three points.

Enter Michael Essien and one of the best goals our home has seen in the last two decades. Teed up by Frank Lampard from 30 yards out, Essien thumped a thunderbolt that swerved into the top corner.

A truly sensational strike.

2008 - Juliano Belletti v Tottenham

2008's Goal of the Season was not only a technically outstanding strike - it also came from an unlikely source.

The Blues hosted Tottenham in a London derby back in January of that year, needing to win to keep pace with Arsenal and Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.

Given space to run into Juliano Belletti edged forward before producing a long-range drive that flew into the top corner at the Shed End.

Although a full-back, Belletti still managed to weigh in with five Premier League goals in his three seasons at the Bridge and they were normally spectacular - his goal away to Wigan earlier on in that season was almost equally as magical as this one.

2009 - Michael Essien vs Barcelona

Not content with one Goal of the Season award, Essien claimed the award for a second time in 2009.

In the Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona, the Ghanaian produced a moment of sublime quality to open the scoring.

When Frank Lampard's deflected cross looped back outside the penalty area it looked as if the danger had passed for the visitors.

In came Essien on the run to hit a stunning left-footed volley which crashed in off the crossbar, setting off pandemonium at the Bridge. Watching it back 15 years later, it is a goal that still takes the breath away every time you watch it.

2013 - Oscar vs Juventus

To score twice on your full debut is something of a dream start. For one of those strikes to win Goal of the Season is bordering on ridiculous.

Yet that is exactly how Oscar announced himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful back in September 2012.

Found by Ashley Cole, but with his back to goal, in a split second Oscar spun away from two Juventus shirts to create space on the edge of the box, before curling a stunning strike into the top corner.

The quality of this goal means it would have always been hard to leave off this list anyway, but when you consider the legendary Gianluigi Buffon was in goal for the Italians, it has to be included.

2014 - Lewis Baker vs Arsenal U21s

The only goal to have won this award not from the men's first team came back in the 2014 edition.

But few could argue Lewis Baker's moment of magic for the young Blues against Arsenal Under-21s wasn't a worthy winner.

In a 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium towards the end of the campaign, Baker made his late run for the Goal of the Season crown with a remarkable finish for his 17th goal of the season.

Taking a pacey cross first time as he entered the area, Baker spun to connect with an incredible backheel that flew straight into the Arsenal net. A beautiful goal at any level of the game.

2017 - Eden Hazard vs Arsenal

In the space of just four years, Eden Hazard claimed this award on three separate occasions. And in truth all three of his wonder-goals could have been included on this list.

But his solo effort against Arsenal from back in 2017 is arguably the pick of the trio. Receiving the ball up inside his own half after Diego Costa's header, few inside the Bridge would believe the ball would land in the net only seconds later.

The brilliant Belgian knew differently, producing a stunning run that saw him fight off multiple red shirts - showing his trademark skill, balance and strength - before firing the ball into the bottom corner at the Matthew Harding end.

It was a remarkable piece of genius from a true modern-day Chelsea legend.
