Guro Reiten praised her team-mates following Saturday’s Vitality FA Cup fourth round victory against Aston Villa Women.
Reiten was involved in all three of the Blues’ goals, opening the scoring after 17 minutes. Not long after, the Norwegian was hacked down in the penalty area allowing Pernille Harder to convert from close range.
The Blues wrapped up the win in the second half when Reiten struck powerfully past Hannah Hampton to send Emma Hayes’ side through to the fifth round.
Speaking after the game, Reiten said: ‘I think it was a great performance! We’ve played a lot of games, keeping some fresh legs on the pitch, some rested.
‘Three goals, we wanted a clean sheet but the penalty in the last minute… it doesn’t really matter, we’re into the next round!’
The draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup takes place this evening at 7.30pm live on TalkSport 2.
Reiten discussed her new role for Saturday’s game, explaining how much she enjoyed it.
‘I was playing on the other side in this game. It was fun to come in and use my left foot and I got two goals!
‘I wasn’t sure if I was going to reach that ball so I thought just close your eyes and go for it!’
It’s yet another quick turnaround for Hayes’ side as the Blues host Manchester United in the semi-final of the Continental Tyres League Cup on Wednesday evening at Kingsmeadow, before playing host to Manchester City in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Sunday.
