Chelsea FC Women midfielder Guro Reiten has committed to three more years at the club, signing a contract until the summer of 2025.
The 28-year-old has been an integral part of Hayes’s team since joining in 2019 from LSK Kvinner. Reiten has played a pivotal role in the club's trophy successes, having been a champion of England for the past three seasons, and also securing two FA Cup trophies and Women’s League Cups, and the Community Shield, during this time.
The Norwegian international made an impressive 35 appearances last season with 11 goals added to her tally. Her most recent decisive strike earned the Blues a victory against Portland Thorns last weekend.
The versatile winger has also featured regularly for Norway since Under-15 level. She made her senior debut for her country in 2014, subsequently going on to compete in the 2017 UEFA European Championship, 2019 World Cup and, most recently, featuring in the group stages of the 2022 Euros in England.
Upon signing her extension, Reiten commented: ‘I’m so happy to be extending my time at Chelsea for three further years. We’ve already achieved so much during my time here at the club and I really can’t wait to see what we can do next.
‘A big thank you to all the fans, they have been a huge support throughout, and I look forward to seeing them all this weekend ahead of our new season.’
General manager Paul Green added: ‘We are delighted that Guro has extended her contract with the club. Her goals and assists have been vital to the team’s success in the last few years.
'We look forward to seeing her continue to improve and develop in the upcoming years here at Chelsea.’
Reiten’s news follows five new signings this summer with Kadeisha Buchanan, Eve Perisset, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Katerina Svitkova and Lucy Watson all joining the Blues. Millie Bright and Niamh Charles have both also committed to three more years with the club.
The first opportunity for fans to see Reiten and the full squad in the 2022/23 WSL campaign will be at Stamford Bridge when the Blues takes on West Ham on Sunday 11 September.
Chelsea Women will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary and Guro is looking forward to returning to the Bridge once more: ‘My first game for Chelsea was at Stamford Bridge! We’ve talked about playing there so many times and finally we can do that with fans as obviously Covid has had an impact on that.
‘It’s going to be a really good moment for us to be back at Stamford Bridge.’
