Malo Gusto was delighted with the mentality and performance shown at Villa Park on Wednesday evening, but knows he and his Blues team-mates need to keep pushing across all three competitions.

Chelsea got back to winning ways in some style on Wednesday, as we triumphed 3-1 away at Aston Villa in an FA Cup fourth round replay, defeating a team with top four aspirations in the Premier League and setting up a home tie with Leeds United in the next round of the FA Cup.

Malo Gusto played a key role, with his combination alongside Noni Madueke down our right flank one of the highlights of our fine performance, as well as the Frenchman providing a brilliant cross for Nicolas Jackson to head in our second goal at Villa Park.

For our right-back, it was all about the team performance, though, leaving him delighted with the win and chance to progress in this competition.

'We are very happy to win this game,' said Gusto. 'It is very difficult to win there against Aston Villa but that is what we did, so we are very happy.

'I was very happy to do that assist for Nico, but the most important thing was the collective win. That’s what we worked for during the week in training, to keep the ball and move the ball quickly and that’s what we did.

'I don’t know if it was our best game of the season, I would just say we are very happy and I hope we win more games and keep this mentality.'

It is that issue of the mentality shown by the team against Aston Villa which Gusto was eager to highlight as vital for Wednesday's win, and is something he knows we need to maintain and keep improving in the weeks ahead in order to continue building form and consistency.

'The mentality today all together was very nice and that’s why we won. The most important thing is the collective performance, to keep this mentality to keep moving forward and win everything.

'We were very happy to show this mentality during the game. For sure we have to show more, to show a great mentality, to show our talent, because we are young and we know we need to improve in front of the fans.

'The group is young, we just have to stay all together, we just have to work all together to keep a good mentality to become better players and that’s what we did last night. We need to just play together, just keep moving forward and we are very happy to win this one.'

The victory over Villa sets up a fifth round tie with old rivals Leeds at the Bridge and Malo was asked if he believes Chelsea can keep progressing to reach the FA Cup final at Wembley, having already done exactly that in this season's Carabao Cup.

'We never know, we just have to win every game, stay focused on the Premier League and the FA Cup, and we already know we have to win the final in the Carabao Cup and that’s what we have to do.'
