Full-back Malo Gusto was pleased to play his part for the Blues by producing a Player of the Match display against Crystal Palace during an important 2-1 victory at the Bridge.
The versatile Frenchman skilfully began the move for the opener against the Eagles on the right-flank, before concluding it with an assist for goalscorer Mykhailo Mudryk on the opposite wing, setting the Blues up for victory in SW6.
Gusto believes that his flexibility is a key attribute, especially during closely fought battles such as the one against Crystal Palace, where he eventually moved to left-back following the substitution of Levi Colwill.
‘I have to try to play everywhere,’ he said.
‘The coach asked me to go over to the left side and I will try my best every time. I’m ready to play anywhere.
‘The game was very difficult. It was difficult to score but we are very happy to return to winning ways. We hope we can stay like this.
‘I try to do my best every time I am on the pitch. I want to be fit for every game and to stay focused. I am happy that I played a part [against Crystal Palace].’
The defender also pointed to the importance of the victory against Palace in creating momentum for future fixtures.
‘It’s good for the team to win these games because we’ve not been in the great place,’ Gusto added.
‘We need to win every game because we are Chelsea. And here at Stamford Bridge, it’s important to win in front of the fans.’
