Chelsea manager Emma Hayes is in the running for the Barclays Women’s Super League Manager of the Month award for January, as the Blues maintained our position at the top of the table with back-to-back league victories.
A busy fixture schedule last month saw us play five matches across three different competitions and we emerged from that run in good shape, progressing in both the Adobe Women’s FA Cup and UEFA Women’s Champions League while preserving our lead at the top of the WSL.
Hayes and her coaching team oversaw consecutive league victories against Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion where we scored six goals while conceding just one in the process, leaving us with a three-point lead over second-placed Manchester City.
The Blues manager will go up against Jonas Eidevall of Arsenal and Manchester City’s Gareth Taylor for the award, with the winner to be announced in due course. Voting for Manager of the Month is now open and the vote will close at 10am on Monday 5 February.
