Chelsea Foundation and Willow Foundation recently joined together to help turn the dreams of two families into reality.

Firstly, Emma and her son Elliott were invited into the Chelsea training ground for an exclusive visit as part of Chelsea Foundation’s community days. The family were able to watch the men’s team train before meeting the squad who signed Elliott’s shirt.

A lifelong Chelsea fan, Elliott had been treated to the special occasion by his mum who suffers from motor neurone disease.

Emma said: ‘It was fantastic to be able to give Elliott this special day, to see the smile and excitement on his face is what dreams are made of and we even had a little snow shower! It is a memory Elliott will definitely treasure forever!’

At our match versus Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge, it was the turn of James and family to enjoy a special day.

James, who was diagnosed with lymphoma earlier this year, had never been able to see a Chelsea match until he was invited by Chelsea Foundation as a matchday wish.

He and his family were gifted tickets for the game and were able to watch the team warm up from the sidelines. James was even given exclusive access to join Mauricio Pochettino’s pre-match press conference.

He said: ‘What an experience that was! Everyone gave me such a warm reception and being invited into the pre-match interview with Mauricio Pochettino is a memory I will cherish. I felt honoured to be close to players pitchside and to top the day off, they won!’

Helen, James’ mum, said: ‘When James was at primary school we were able to come to Stamford Bridge for a stadium tour but have never had the opportunity to see a match. After spending many weeks in hospital, we were told he may be able to come to a match and from that day, James spoke about this avidly throughout his treatment. James’ dad also had cancer last year, so this was the first opportunity for us to visit London again and it was a special day for the three of us.

‘Seeing James enjoy the experience gave us so much joy as parents, to see him enjoying life again. The day will always bring us fond memories, thank you Chelsea!’
