Bashir Humphreys continued his impressive start to life in Germany with Paderborn, as his part in a seven-goal thriller earning loan performance of the week.

It was Paderborn's third league match of 2023 and the second that Bashir Humphreys has been involved in, having joined just too late to feature in the first. He has played every minute of the two most recent fixtures, though, which were both high-scoring games full of entertainment in 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of German football.

The latest was a 4-3 victory away at fellow promotion hopefuls Hannover, making it three league wins a row and matching their best run of the season, back in August. Not bad considering they ended 2022 on a run of four consecutive defeats and hadn't won since October.

Now, with Humphreys at the heart of their back three, Paderborn have moved up to fourth place in the table, just two points behind the solitary play-off spot and six from automatic promotion.

However, it didn't look it would be such a happy day at Hannover early on for the England Under-21 international, as the home side raced into a two-goal lead inside the first four minutes, but Paderborn soon got into gear, pulling one back two minutes later and equalising from the penalty spot before the half-hour mark.

Humphreys and his team-mates were comfortably the better side after the break, scoring twice more to take a two-goal lead themselves which never really looked troubled, despite Hannover pulling one back late on, with Paderborn ending a breathless match as 4-3 winners thanks to a stunning comeback.

Keep up the good work Bashir!
