It was teenage forward Marc Guiu who opened the scoring in the 14th minute of the game. The Spaniard collected the ball on the right-hand side of the penalty area, evaded a covering defender, surged into the box, and guided his shot beyond Astana goalkeeper Mukhammedzhan Seysen.

Guiu doubled his and our tally soon after as he managed to get the final touch on a dangerous cross from Pedro Neto and Renato Veiga headed home a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall corner shortly before the interval for our third of the night.

Astana did pull a goal back through Marin Tomasov and the hosts were much improved in the second period. However, a Chelsea side – which by full-time included three debutants – saw out the contest comfortably to guarantee our place in the Round of 16.
