Malo Gusto, Benoit Badiashile and Christopher Nkunku all featured in the victory over the Mexican champions at Mercedes-Benz Stadium before appearing to pick up minor injuries and being substituted.

And whilst our third pre-season match of the season provided Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall the chance to feature for the first time since injury, the contest came too soon for Nicholas Jackson and Moises Caicedo.

Maresca said: ‘Fortunately for Malo, Benoit and Christo, all of them, it was just cramp.

‘For Nicolas and Moi, they are very close. They are still doing some work apart from the team but hopefully next week they can start to train with us.’
