Chelsea can confirm midfielder Sophie Ingle sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during our pre-season match against Feyenoord.

Following assessment by the club’s medical team and a knee specialist, Sophie will soon undergo surgery before beginning a period of rehabilitation at the club.

The Welsh international joined the Blues in 2018 for her second spell, having previously played for the club during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

She has gone on to win 11 trophies with Chelsea and has racked up an impressive number of Women’s Super League appearances, which puts her as the current record holder for number of games played in the division.

Everyone at Chelsea would like to wish Sophie the very best for her recovery.
