Seventeen Chelsea Women continue to represent their respective nations across the globe, and we check-in with the latest fixtures involving our Blues as tournament football dominated the weekend’s schedule.
England continued their defence of the Arnold Clark Cup with a 2-1 victory against Italy in Coventry, as Aston Villa's Rachel Daly bagged a brace with two headed goals. Meanwhile, Australia edged Spain 3-2 in a thrilling encounter as the Cup of Nations continued down under.
There were victories for France, Scotland and Canada in their respective invitational tournaments with all teams having now played two matches each. Wales had to settle for a point against Iceland, while Norway were on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline against Denmark.
Let’s take a closer look at how our Blues fared at the weekend…
Saturday
Eve Perisset was not involved as France produced an emphatic 5-1 victory over Uruguay to continue their 100% record at the Tournoi de France. Guro Reiten and Maren Mjelde came off the bench as Norway were beaten 2-0 by Denmark in the tournament’s other match.
Scotland got off the mark at the Pinatar Cup in Spain with a 2-1 win against the Philippines, with Erin Cuthbert among the substitutes. Meanwhile, Wales were held to a goalless draw against Iceland with Sophie Ingle starting for the second consecutive match.
Sunday
England recorded back-to-back victories at the Arnold Clark Cup as Daly’s brace helped the Lionesses to a 2-1 victory over Italy. Niamh Charles (pictured top) impressed at left-back, while Lauren James came off the bench to assist Daly with a pinpoint cross for the winning goal.
Sam Kerr started for Australia as the Matildas recorded consecutive victories at the Cup of Nations, defeating Spain 3-2 in an entertaining affair. Arsenal's Caitlin Foord scored one of the three goals that put Australia in control, proving enough to withstand a second-half fightback from Spain.
Canada secured their first points at the SheBelieves Cup with a 2-0 victory over Brazil. Jessie Fleming and Kadeisha Buchanan played the full 90 minutes. Future Chelsea opponent, Lyon's Vanessa Gilles, was one of the scorers ahead of the final round of fixtures.
