Armando Broja was on the scoresheet for Albania but couldn’t help the Eagles to victory, as they were defeated by Israel in the Nations League.
The Chelsea striker, who spent last season on loan at Southampton, fired the hosts into the lead in Tirana but Israel hit back after the break courtesy of two goals from Shakhtar Donetsk forward Manor Solomon.
The result means Israel go level on three points with Albania and Iceland after two games, while Russia – the other nation in League B Group Two – are yet to feature.
Elsewhere, Baba Rahman was an unused substitute as Ghana were defeated 4-1 by Japan in Kobe, in the Kirin Cup.
