Ashley Lawrence featured for Canada as they began their Pinatar Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against China.

Playing under new manager and former Blue Casey Stoney for the first time, defender Lawrence featured for the full 90 minutes in Canada's opening match of the invitational tournament in Murcia, Spain.

Lawrence's side took the lead after only 16 minutes through Julia Grosso, before China equalised just before the hour mark with Jin Kun netting the leveller.

Canada next play in the Pinatar Cup on Saturday evening against Mexico, who defeated Chinese Taipei 4-0 in their first game this afternoon.
